New things await the NBA next season, such as a new salary cap ceiling, uniforms made by Nike instead of Adidas, and the Portland Trail Blazers‘ new logo.

Last September, team President & CEO Chris McGowan stated the team will feature a more modernized updated logo along with the new Nike uniforms in the 2017-2018 season.

He also stated that there wouldn't be a drastic abandonment from the team's current logo, but the subtle difference would be noticeable.

Monday, the Blazers unveiled their new logo which is still true to its signature pinwheel look. The colors were changed from silver and red to red and white stripes featuring sharper edges banded together.

The team's ten stripes logo represent five offensive players and five defensive players, which hasn't seen a revision since 2002. McGowen reminded fans that their feedback was considered during the revision process. Via the team's press release:

“We gathered plenty of fan feedback and support on this direction for modernizing our primary logo, while staying true to our heritage and maintaining its place as one of the most unique logos in professional sports. Together, we landed on subtle changes that provide a nod to our past while allowing us to modernize other aspects of our creative assets.”

The logo was not set to be revealed this soon but was leaked on the NBA store on random items.
