Another day, another high profile athlete gets hit with COVID-19. This time, it's arguably the most well-know athlete on the planet in Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi.

The PSG star has reportedly tested positive alongside three of his teammates, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala. The four are all currently isolating and abiding by the necessary health protocols in place to help them recover safely.

That has placed Messi's status for for PSG's next league game on January 9 against Lyon in jeopardy. Messi is currently in Argentina.

Via ESPN:

“Messi has been in regular contact with our medical team,” said PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino. “When he has a negative test, he will travel to France, but we don't know any more than that. I don't know if he will be involved against Lyon.”

“Until he gets a negative test in Argentina, he will not be able to travel to France. So it is all down to the test in terms of when he can travel. … We will assess when he is ready to play.”

PSG is already dealing with an injury to Neymar, who is still several weeks away from a return. While they currently own a firm grip on the Ligue 1 standings, fans certainly hope Lionel Messi gets back healthy and ready as soon as possible.
