This comes after Paris rejected a €200 million offer from Real Madrid for Mbappe, who has refused to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants. He played 89 minutes in Les Bleus’ 1-1 draw with Bosnia on Wednesday and it would be safe to assume the injury happened in that match.
Kylian Mbappe will now return to Paris and rest up the calf but he will miss two crucial World Cup qualifiers in the coming days against Ukraine and Finland. Hopefully, it’s not too serious because PSG also can’t afford to be without their leading goal-getter, who netted a brace last weekend in a 2-0 victory vs. Reims where Lionel Messi made his much-anticipated debut for the club as a second-half substitute.
France is currently 2-2-0 in qualifying for Qatar 2022 and has been far from convincing after a shocking Round of 16 exit in Euro 2020, where Switzerland beat them in a heroic comeback that ended in penalty kicks.
As for PSG, they will be hoping the decision to keep Kylian Mbappe and turn down a bag of money will help them capture numerous trophies this season before he’s available to leave on a free transfer next summer, with Real Madrid his likely destination.
