Oakland Raiders star wide receiver Antonio Brown called Mike Mayock a derogatory name along with many other curse words during their confrontation during practice on Wednesday.

According to Josiana Anderson of ESPN, Brown, who was upset with the fine given to him by the team, saw Mayock during practice and walked over to him to discuss the issue.

According to a team source, Mayock was trying to keep his cool and diffuse the situation from escalating any more.

“[Mayock] was like, ‘I'm cool, I understand your displeasure,'” the source said. “[Mayock] sort of just like … just walked away because he saw it escalate.”

The team source made it known that the argument never became physical, but Brown was held back from Mayock by some players including Vontaze Burfict.

Brown was excused from practice and the team is still trying to decide if they are going to suspend him or let him suit up in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos.

Coach Jon Gruden said on Thursday that he didn't want to get into all the details, but he thinks deep down Brown is a really good guy.

“Like I said, I'm not going to get into all of this,” Gruden said. “Obviously, he wasn't here today, and when we have some information for you, we'll give it to you. … I've been talking about the same guy every day.”

“… I'm emotional about it, I hope you understand why. I think a lot of this guy. I think Antonio is a great receiver, and deep down I think he's a really good guy. So, I'm frustrated, I'm not going to say anything more about it, hope it all works out. But I don't have anything official to say about anything else until I get all the facts, and that's what I'm going to do.”

If Brown is let back on the team, hopefully he and Mayock can have a good conversation and put all of this behind them.
