The Oakland Raiders have undergone some major changes that were headlined by the arrival of head coach Jon Gruden, which has put in place a new offensive scheme ahead of the 2018 season.

It hasn't taken long for Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr to get a grip of the game plan as Gruden has voiced that the 27-year-old has some true command of the offense, according to Michael Gehlken of The Las Vegas Review-Journal.

This is an encouraging sign for the Raiders with Carr holding full command of the offense in the manner that Gruden had hoped. It should allow for the team to find success on the field with their star quarterback being able to lead the way with a clear understanding of the playbook and the type of audible that will be necessary to effectively move the ball down the field.

The Raiders are hoping to have a bounce-back 2018 season after a disappointing campaign that saw them struggle at times offensively this past season. Carr had also taken a step back that was impacted by his back injury along with fluidity in the game plan. There is no a clear sense of direction with Gruden in place put in place an offensive scheme that could get the most out of his quarterback and other skilled position while giving them the best chance to win on the field.

The fact that he was able to pick up the offense so quickly should speak to his innate ability to learn new offensive schemes along with it being a game plan that isn't entirely complex to understand. Ultimately, it will be on Carr's shoulders to excel in this system while leading the team to success in the upcoming campaign behind his arm that could see him once again recapture his MVP-caliber play from the 2016 season.
