Oakland Raiders linebacker has been considered by many as a dirty player but quarterback Derek Carr thinks that impression is wrong, and he is just misunderstood.

Burfict was given a suspension for the rest of the season after his hit on Sunday against Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle. Carr said he didn't think Burfict was trying to hurt him and that he sees hit's like that all the time in the NFL.

“I don't think he was trying to hurt that man; the man was going down,” Carr said of Burfict's helmet-to-helmet hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle on Sunday via ESPN, which triggered the suspension a day later. “You see it all the time — there's flags flying everywhere.”

Carr points out that Odell Beckham Jr.was chocked by Marlon Humprey last Sunday and he will still suit up on Sunday.

“We see other people choking people out, and they're going to play this Sunday. We see other people hitting people in the helmet, and they're going to play this Sunday. And Vontaze Burfict won't play the rest of the year? I think that's a little excessive, if you ask me. I don't think it's fair, if we really got to know the guy.”

Even if Carr says he is a great teammate there is no doubt that the hits that he has delivered over the years are considered dirty and after the suspensions he has had to serve before,  the NFL needed to make a point with this suspension.
