The Las Vegas Raiders are now among the teams in the NFL that have zero players on the COVID-19 reserve list. Just a day after activating Maxx Crosby from the COVID-19 list, the Raiders activated running back Rod Smith off of the list.

Smith signed with Las Vegas last December, suiting up in just three games for the Raiders. For the most part, Smith was a contributor on special teams, spending 32 of his 33 snaps on special teams.

Before joining the Raiders, Smith spent the majority of his first four seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. Altogether, in his four years with the Cowboys, Smith combined for 359 yards on 99 attempts and five rushing touchdowns. On top of that, he caught 30 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown.

After being activated to the Raiders' roster, Smith is going to be competing for a roster spot in 2020. Besides Josh Jacobs leading the pack, Las Vegas also employs Jalen Richard, William Stanback, and Devontae Booker. Meanwhile, rookie Lynn Bowden Jr. figures to have an immediate role in the offense as well.

To make room for Smith on the active roster, the Raiders waived cornerback Ken Crawley. Las Vegas signed Crawley to a futures contract back in January.

In all likeliness, if Smith does manage to make the roster for the Raiders, he won't see the field much on the offensive side of the ball. Nevertheless, it's a positive sign for him that he's finally been cleared to return to the team after spending time on the COVID-19 reserve list.
