The Las Vegas Raiders' recent struggles have seen the team fall to 6-7 on the year, having lost five of their previous six games. The offense has been stagnant during their poor run of form, and the Raiders have failed to score more than 17 points in all but one game during that stretch. Their woes have led to rumors regarding quarterback Derek Carr's future with the franchise.

According to CBS Sports Radio Host Brandon Tierney, via Steve Tannen, the Raiders are considering benching Carr in favor of backup Marcus Mariota.

Carr's contract situation plays a big role in the team even considering a move, per Tannen. Carr has no dead cap penalty in his contract for next season, so if the Raiders were to move him in the offseason, they would be off the hook for the $19.77 million he's due in salary for 2022. Carr would likely have various suitors in a potential trade, though it remains to be seen if that's an avenue the Raiders would be willing to explore.

On the season, Carr has 18 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. He's failed to throw more than two touchdowns in a single game this season, and while he's on pace for another 4,000-yard season, he's still not doing enough to put points on the board and earn the Raiders some wins.

If the Raiders do end up giving Mariota a chance, it would likely signal the end of Carr's tenure with the team. Across eight seasons with the Raiders, Carr has a 53-70 record across 123 starts. He's thrown 188 touchdown passes and 81 interceptions and has three seasons with more than 4,000 yards under his belt. His recent struggles, however, have cast some doubt as to whether he has a future in Las Vegas.
