The new-look Chicago Bulls are poised to make some noise in the Eastern Conference. The Derrick Rose-era has ended in Chicago, and in steps a remodeled back court featuring Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, and Jimmy Butler.

Rondo, who will run the point and distribute the ball to a plethora of scoring options, is somewhat of an enigma. In Boston, he emerged as a remarkable and unique talent, throwing dazzling passes to the likes of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, and posting triple-doubles regularly.

In 2014, Rondo was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and everybody expected him to carry over his impressive repertoire of skills. Instead, off-the-court issues and chemistry problems arose. Most notably, a heated exchange with head coach Rick Carlisle marred his time in Dallas.

In the 2015 free agency period, Rondo inked a one-deal with the Sacramento Kings where, although still marked with a reputation as a poor teammate, he recaptured some of the magic he had in Boston. With the Kings, Rondo almost averaged 12 assists a game, leading the NBA in the category.

This year, Rondo agreed to come to Chicago to play under Fred Hoiberg. On paper, this parternship seems like a perfect marriage.

Hoiberg is an offensive minded coach who will look to bring the best out of Rondo, helping him find open slashers, such as Dwyane Wade. Rondo said of Hoiberg:

“He's not an egotistical coach. He wants players to have input and we'll listen. This is gonna be fun.”

Whether Rondo becomes a mainstay on SportsCenter's Top 10 list like he was in Boston remains to be seen. However, his fit with the new-look Bulls is intriguing, and with Hoiberg at the helm, Chicago could be in line for a deep playoff run.
