The Los Angeles Rams made a big splash this free agency when they signed safety Eric Weddle. Although he's not the elite talent he once was, the veteran is still one of the best in the NFL and brings leadership and knowledge everywhere he goes.

However, like I said, he might not be the player he once was. Now 34, it's not even certain how much longer Weddle will be in the NFL for. What he is certain of though, is that he'll give it his all this season.

Talking with Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com, Weddle expanded on that.

“I'm giving it all I've got this year. Who knows about the next year?” Weddle says. “I've got a lot of years on these legs, so I'm just taking it one day at a time.”

As Weddle points out, at the moment he believes he's got a lot left in him. Things can change though and he seems to know that. While everything can be looking great right now, a lot can happen. He could lose a step, or injuries could crop up or he could even just simply feel like he doesn't have it anymore.

The proof is in the numbers. Last season, Weddle was still one of the better players at his position. However, the 68 tackles were his second lowest since his rookie year (63 tackles in 2017) and the zero interceptions were a first since 2015. Meanwhile, his three pass deflections were his lowest ever.

He may be realizing that he won't be playing for all that much longer.

With that in mind, Weddle isn't holding back this year. That's great news for the Los Angeles Rams. When Eric Weddle is on top of his game, there are very few that measure up to him.
