The Texas Rangers aim to repeat for another World Series and look like one of the best teams in the league early on. However, the club is facing some complications after Cody Bradford received an unfortunate injury update. The pitching rotation is becoming a bit thin.

Bradford was officially placed on the IL with back soreness, according to Rangers beat writer Jeff Wilson. Michael Lorenzen is set to start on Monday while Texas also called up Cole Winn from the minors.

“Cody Bradford hits injured list with back soreness. Michael Lorenzen to start Monday. Cole Winn called up.”

The good news is that Cody Bradford isn't suffering an arm injury. Back soreness is no joke either. However, since it's not his throwing arm there shouldn't be concern for any long term damage. Bradford was placed on the 15-day IL.

So the Rangers will be without Bradford for at least a couple of weeks. It's not an ideal situation as he's been on fire since Opening Day. So far this season, Cody Bradford has record an impressive 1.40 ERA, 17 strikeouts, and a 0.621 WHIP. He's also 3-0 on the year.

It'll be difficult to replace Bradford but the Rangers seem confident in Cole Winn. But the next couple weeks could be difficult as Texas takes on the Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, and Cincinnati Reds during that stretch.

Hopefully, Texas can maintain its strong pitching without Bradford. If they can do that then the Rangers should be able to maintain the top seed in the AL West. But only time will tell if they can pull it off or not.

The Rangers are wrapping up their series against the Houston Astros and will be facing off against the Detroit Tigers in a four game series. Detroit has been a bit of a surprise so far and could be a tough series for Texas.

Even so, the Rangers are primed to be one of the best teams in the league. Even with the multiple injuries to the pitching rotation. They have a plethora of talent at the plate and should be able to hold their own. Once the injured pitchers return, Texas could be in a great spot to maintain the lead on the AL West.

Look for the Rangers to lean on their hitting moving forward. Additionally, the bullpen is going to have to step up as well. If Texas can remain strong in those two key areas they should be just fine despite the pitching injury woes.
