The 2018 NFL regular season is getting ready to wrap up and fans are starting to get a pretty clear picture of who will be fighting it out for the Lombardi Trophy in February. There are a number of teams who could meet up in Atlanta for Super Bowl 53 and it will be interesting to see who emerges as the two best teams in the league.

While there seem to be a few teams favored to get to the Super Bowl, anything and everything can happen once the postseason begins. Will there be another Wild Card team roll its way to the end on the road? Or will it end with the two teams everyone expects to be there?

This NFL season has been hard to call, so it is fitting that the postseason would be just as difficult. Let's take a look at the five best potential matchups for Super Bowl 53.

5. Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots

This is the battle of two teams that nobody would really want to see win. America's Team of the 90's and arguably the modern America's Team. The Cowboys are hot right now and they could keep their streak going right into the postseason.

Ezekiel Elliott

If they keep it up, we could possibly see one of these two teams fighting for their record-tying sixth Lombardi Trophy. The Cowboys have one of the most explosive running backs in Ezekiel Elliot while the Patriots have Tom Brady who can make all the throws down the field a Hall of Fame quarterback should make.

While this doesn't seem like the most likely Super Bowl 53 meeting, it would certainly be one of the most interesting. It could certainly end up being the most-watched, or least depending on your view, in the 53-year history of the Big Game.

4. Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers

While a Super Bowl meeting between two teams playing in the same stadium always seemed possible, no one would have believed we would be this close to it. When the Rams and Chargers agreed to share the Coliseum and eventually a new stadium in Inglewood, California following the 2016 season, both teams were at pretty low points with the Chargers missing the playoffs for the third straight season and the Rams finishing 4-12.

Jared Goff, Rams

Now, both teams from Hollywood are very good and have a good shot at making a run to Super Bowl 53. The Rams have two legitimate MVP candidates in Todd Gurley and Jared Goff, while the Chargers boast one of the best defenses in the league and have their own dark-horse MVP candidate in veteran Philip Rivers.

The two teams met earlier this year with the Rams coming out on top 35-23, but it certainly seems like they would have an even better game in February. This meeting would make history and would certainly bring a lot of interest to Atlanta.

3. Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots

This is another rematch that fans likely would not mind seeing, especially if they can repeat the performance they had earlier this year. The only Chicago Bears Super Bowl victory ended with a 45-7 drubbing of the New England Patriots in 1985, but that was 33 years ago and Tom Brady was seven years old.

Khalil Mack

The Bears, when healthy, are one of the best teams in the NFL with a league-leading six defensive touchdowns and Mitchell Trubisky finally coming into his own as their quarterback. The Patriots are always going to be the Patriots, just this time they would likely have a healthy Sony Michel back on the field.

This would be an interesting matchup for Super Bowl 53 that would likely draw a lot of attention. It would be a great meeting of a dominating defense against one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game of football.

2. Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints

Before they fell to the Dallas Cowboys last week, the New Orleans Saints had the longest winning streak in the league at 10 games. Now, the Houston Texans have that distinction with a nine-game win streak, but the Saints are still a very hot team. This seems like one of the most likely Super Bowl matchups, even with New Orleans' disappointing offensive performance last week.

Deshaun Watson

The Saints have seemingly scored at will this season with an average of 34.9 points per game and Drew Brees having an MVP worthy season. Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt are both having terrific bounce-back seasons. The Houston offense has been deadly with DeAndre Hopkins becoming one of the best receivers in the league. The defense allows under 20 points a game and is 10th with 34 sacks.

This would be a great game between two underdog teams that everyone seems to root for every year. And with only about 350 miles separating New Orleans and Houston, Super Bowl 53 might have another storyline that people could miss at first.

1. Los Angeles Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Here it is. The rematch on this list everyone wants to see. Many are calling their Week 11 meeting on a Monday night the greatest game in NFL history and most believe these will be the two teams in Super Bowl 53.

Patrick Mahomes

That does seem pretty likely at this point and the game promises to be just as good the second time. However, there is one key element that would be missing from this game: Kareem Hunt. The former Chiefs running back has essentially been blacklisted from the NFL after a video of him getting into a fight with a woman last February surfaced.

His absence from the game, however, might not make that much of a difference as he played a rather minimal role in their original meeting. Whatever happens, it certainly seems like this is the meeting everyone wants to see for the Lombardi Trophy in 2019.
