The NBA trade deadline has come and gone. But before it ended, the Toronto Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers reached an agreement. In the deal, the Raptors sent Norman Powell and received Rodney Hood and Gary Trent Jr. Since the trade, Trent Jr. has been going off. In the nine games he's played so far, Trent Jr. has averaged 17.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

In their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, Trent Jr. had himself a career night. After recording 44 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, his former teammates took to social media to share their reactions.

Gary Trent Jr. has been in the league for three years now and started to show off his skills in the NBA Bubble last season. He earned himself an increased role for Portland since then and was eventually traded to the Raptors. Already having two superstar guards, it was unlikely that Portland was going to keep him. Luckily for the Raptors, Trent Jr. has turned into a nice investment.

Even Jusuf Nurkic had to share his support for Trent Jr.'s recent success. CJ McCollum, Carmelo Anthony, Robert Covington, and others all poured in with compliments for the Raptors' new guard. Based on his recent success, Gary Trent Jr. is shaping up to become an elite scorer in the league. Now being in Toronto, the Raptors give him the time he needs to continue growing into a top player.

The Raptors remain busy as they will be taking on the New York Knicks on Sunday night. Look for Gary Trent Jr. to potentially repeat his performance and possibly lead his team in scoring again.
