DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry took the court together, with neither one donning a Toronto Raptors uniform for the first time in over a decade. Lowry's Miami Heat outlasted DeRozan's Chicago Bulls in a 107-104 affair, but their close friendship remains as strong as ever.

After the Bulls loss, DeRozan was asked about his bond with his former Raptors brother. The 4-time All-Star tried to sum up their unbreakable connection as simply as he could.

Via K.C. Johnson:

Asked DeMar DeRozan if he can put into words his bond with Kyle Lowry. He said he couldn't. Then he did, eloquently:”If my mom had another son, it'd be Kyle” If his mom had another son, it'd be me. That's as simple as I can put it. That's how close we are. That's what it is to me,” said DeRozan of his former Raptors running mate.

DeRozan led the way for the Bulls with 28 points and seven rebounds. Lowry was effective as well, notching 19 points, five rebounds, and six assists as his Heat struck first in their seasons series.

Both Lowry and Derozan played nine seasons for the Raptors, with their stints overlapping for six successful seasons up north. But now they play for warring franchises who both have serious aspirations to rule the Eastern Conference.
