Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey is about to make his return to Toronto, and he gushed over the league-leading Raptors squad.

The Pistons are set to take on the Raptors at Scotiabank Arena, and Lori Ewing of CBC asked Casey on how he feels about the upcoming matchup. To recall, Casey was the Raptors' head coach for seven years before he was fired last season:

“It will be different being on that side of the bench but I would be disingenuous to say it's not going to feel funny,” Casey said in a phone interview. “But the reason I say I woke up this morning is because we stubbed our toe against Charlotte, and I thought about who we have next and it has to be the Toronto Raptors, and I thought ‘Oh my goodness, they're a good team.'

As of writing, the Raptors are riding a six-game winning streak and have a league-best 12-1 record. After Casey parted ways with the team, Nick Nurse took over the head coaching job and the Raptors landed defensive stalwart Kawhi Leonard in a blockbuster trade.

Though critics initially thought that the Raptors were the losers of the deal, the results show otherwise as Leonard has been fitting in nicely with the likes of Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka.

Casey's new team, the Pistons, has a decent 6-6 record. He's picking up the scraps of the rebuilding Pistons franchise. They have missed the playoffs eight of the past nine seasons and are counting on Casey to bring some life back into the franchise.
