Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey is still looking out for Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry despite not being his coach anymore.

Casey told Raptors reporters on Friday he voted for Lowry as an All-Star reserve:

Lowry is now a six-time All-Star. He's appeared in 37 games for the Raptors this season and is averaging 19.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He's also shooting 41.3 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc and 85.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Lowry had one year left on his deal with the Raptors before the season started. He signed a one-year, $31 million extension with Toronto in October.

Lowry signed a three-year, $100 million contract with the Raptors in the summer of 2017. The Villanova product won his first championship last season thanks to a heroic postseason stretch from Kawhi Leonard.

Lowry averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists during the 2018-19 regular-season while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 83.0 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2019 playoffs, Lowry put up 15.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists. The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals in six games.

Despite being fired by the Raptors, Casey still has good relationships with Lowry and San Antonio Spurs shooting guard DeMar DeRozan. The trio was never able to get past LeBron James in the playoffs, but they still had some special regular season moments and made the Raptors relevant again.
