The Utah Jazz appeared to be on the way to an easy win against the Toronto Raptors after scoring 40 points in the first quarter and ending the half with a 13-point lead…that is until Fred VanVleet happened.

Simply put, FVV caught fire in the third quarter to not only put the Raptors back in the game but also allow them to take the lead heading to the final frame. He dropped 24 points in the penultimate period, including 17 straight points.

As Sportsnet Stats noted, that 24 points is the most ever by a Raptors player in a quarter in a home game.

Fred VanVleet has been phenomenal for the Raptors this season, and after rookie Scottie Barnes shared how awe-inspiring it is to watch the spitfire guard, he does something extraordinary.

“Fred’s been killing it,” Barnes told reporters on Friday before their showdown with the Jazz. “Doing so much talking on defense, leading the team. On offense, scoring the ball at a high level—midrange, going to the basket, shooting threes, running our offense to perfection. He’s just been going on a tear lately.”

The Raptors scored a total of 45 points in the third quarter against the Jazz's 30, putting them at 96-94. Obviously, it didn't end there as the Toronto franchise stayed hot in the fourth to extend the lead further and complete one of the best comebacks in the NBA this season.

Sure enough, it is all thanks to Fred VanVleet who is quickly becoming the new star guard in Toronto after Kyle Lowry.
