Fred VanVleet has proven once again that he's one heck of a shotmaker. Against the Washington Wizards on Thursday, the Toronto Raptors guard drained an off-balance three-pointer to force the game into overtime. And he did it right in front of Russell Westbrook's face.

From the looks of it, VanVleet was fishing for the foul but the Wizards' defenders did not bite. This, however, did not disrupt VanVleet's rhythm whatsoever.

Another angle of VanVleet's clutch shot is good proof of why he's tagged as one of the most important pillars of the Raptors. He may not be superstar caliber yet but when the team needs him, he will show up.

Interestingly, it was the Raptors' first overtime game for the entire season. But unfortunately for them, the Wizards walked out as the victors in the tense match-up. The game went down to the wire and ended with a 131-129 score, spoiling VanVleet's heroics.

VanVleet finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Pascal Siakam had a monster effort of 44 points, 11  boards, and seven dimes. Khem Birch added 17 points and nine rebounds.

It's a sorry loss for the Raptors. Now, they have a slimmer chance at making the play-in tournament. Despite this, Fred VanVleet and Raptors fans should feel good that they never gave up on Thursday.
