The Toronto Raptors head into Game 5 on the brink of elimination against the Philadelphia 76ers after winning on Saturday to cut the series deficit to 3-1. While it was huge to get a big victory, the Raptors, unfortunately, lost Fred VanVleet mid-game to a hip injury.
VanVleet grimaced in pain and tore his jersey in half as he walked to the locker room and won't be available for Monday's vital contest.
Fred VanVleet says he won’t play tonight, says he’s taking it day by day from here.

This is definitely a big blow for the Raptors. Although FVV isn't exactly playing up to par in the playoffs, he is still the leader of Toronto and very important to their ultimate success.
VanVleet is averaging just 13.8 points, 6.3 assists, and three rebounds in four postseason games thus far while shooting a mere 33% from downtown. It's frankly unknown how long he could be out at this point, but hopefully, the Raptors can live to see another day. Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent Jr will see even heavier minutes sans VanVleet, while Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby also need to step up in a big way.
The Raptors will be feeling confident they can pull out another win though, especially with Joel Embiid battling a thumb injury. He was clearly not 100% in Game 4 and plans to play through the issue until the offseason when the big man can get surgery. Let's hope Toronto can slow him down.
