The Toronto Raptors took a risk by trading for Kawhi Leonard this offseason. There's no guarantee that he stays with the Raptors for the long haul, making this season is almost like a trial period for him in Toronto. The Raptors hope they can follow the same blueprint that the Oklahoma City Thunder used to re-sign Paul George.

It appears that Leonard is buying a home, rather than renting a place.

Of course, this doesn't mean that Leonard is looking to re-sign. Who knows what his motivation is for the purchase. But Raptors fans can still hope that this season convinces Leonard to remain in Toronto. Not many people thought Paul George would stay with the Thunder. The same could happen here.

This season, Leonard and company should compete for the crown in the Eastern Conference. The Boston Celtics are stacked with young talent and returning stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. The Sixers are going to be dangerous with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons emerging as superstars.

But Leonard is probably the best player in the Eastern Conference when he's healthy. His lockdown defense and ability to score in a variety of ways makes him a nightmare for opposing teams. How well he fits with Kyle Lowry remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that the All-Stars can make it work.

Perhaps a trip to the NBA Finals would be enough to convince Leonard to stay in town. He'll already have a place to stay if he does.
