Recent rumors of a trade offer from the Toronto Raptors to the Memphis Grizzlies soon went viral in the north, with point guard Kyle Lowry forced to step in and declare his innocence in the matter.

“I personally want to be in Toronto. I never asked for a trade,” said Kyle Lowry, according to Michael Grange of Rogers SportsNet. “My goal is to win a championship here and that’s what I want to do.”

“I've heard all the rumors just like that. I'm sure if anything was to happen, management would call me and talk to me and make me aware of anything that's going down. It's one of those things where I feel we have a good enough relationship to know what's going on.”

A proposed trade would send Lowry and center Jonas Valanciunas to Memphis for Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, but it was effectively turned down by the Grizzlies, as the deal lacked a young player in return.

Lowry stressed he's not tired of playing at the Scotiabank Arena, calling it “home” after playing his last seven seasons with the Raptors.

The 6-foot point man played his first two-and-a-half seasons with the Grizzlies before being shipped out to the Houston Rockets for the remainder of his third season and the next three to come.

Lowry might feel like he has a good understanding with management, but it wouldn't be surprising if he's kept his eyes peeled after what happened to DeMar DeRozan over the summer.
