Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry will be available for Game 1 of their second-round series against the Boston Celtics on Sunday, according to the team.

Lowry suffered an ankle injury in Game 4 of their first-round sweep of the Brooklyn Nets. There was still some question about whether he would be available for the scheduled start of this series on Thursday, but the extra time off due to the NBA player strike helped him heal up.

Lowry and the defending champion Raptors will have their hands full with Boston. While the Celtics will not have Gordon Hayward available due to his own ankle injury, Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown are all playing terrific basketball.

Tatum continues to look like a bona fide star, while Walker is rounding back into form after knee issues slowed him down before the NBA season went on hiatus. Brown has emerged as a steady two-way player and a consistent 20-point threat. These three players led the Celtics to an impressive four-game sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers.

This should be a long and exciting series, and the Raptors are thrilled that Lowry is available. While his numbers from the first round weren’t all that good, he’s the heart and soul of the team and a legitimate leader. He’s always making big plays and providing a spark when needed.

Lowry averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 36.8% overall and 34.8% on 3-pointers against Brooklyn. In the regular season, the All-Star averaged 19.4 points, 7.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals while shooting 41.6% from the field and 35.2% from long distance.
