Toronto Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri has spoken about the unrealistic speculation on the Kawhi Leonard free agency saga.

Per Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports, Ujiri shared his thoughts on the massive media coverage on Leonard's impending decision: whether he'll go someplace else or re-sign with the Raptors. Analysts from left to right chimed in, claiming that their ‘sources' say that Los Angeles Lakers have the upper hand. Some say that it is the LA Clippers who are about to lure him in.

“It's just unreal how there's become a play-by-play on what's going on and it's not real, it's not realistic. One day someone is in the lead and the next someone else is in the lead and no one has even talked. I don't know how it works.”

Perhaps just like the rest of the league, no one saw the Clippers-Leonard deal coming. Not a single report claimed that Clippers consultant Jerry West was brewing something up. Not only did he lure in Leonard, but it also included two-way star, Paul George.

Rarely was the Oklahoma City Thunder — George's team during that time — was brought up into the mix. Most stories revolved around the Lakers, Clippers, or the Raptors.

Though it certainly has garnered a heightened interest among fans, the “unrealistic” speculation can also be a bane for the league moving forward. Recently, NBA commissioner Adam Silver shared that the league intends to tweak some free agency rules. Inevitably, this might affect the play-by-play commentary of the so-called experts on the matter.
