The Toronto Raptors are locking up Pascal Siakam for the next several years. As originally reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Raptors are signing Siakam to a four-year max extension.

As Shams Charania of The Athletic mentions, the max contract is worth $130 million and contains no team or player options.

The Raptors had been attempting to sign Siakam — who was entering the last year of his deal — to a max contract during the last few months. The 25-year-old big man has quickly emerged as the face of the Raptors franchise after he had a breakthrough season, averaging 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game on 54.9 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from beyond the arc — all career-highs — last year.

Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri had previously stated that Siakam was definitely somebody that they were going to keep in Toronto.

“Whether it's going to be this fall or this summer, he's definitely someone we're going to keep here,” Ujiri said. “He's going to have more on his shoulders this year, and I think he accepts that. He knows that there's a responsibility and he's up for the challenge. This season is a good season for him to actually grow as a player, and to potentially get to where we all feel he could get to which is one of the best players in the league.”

The Cameroon-born Siakam was named the NBA's Most Improved Player of the Year at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season.

The 6-foot-9 forward played even better during the postseason during the team's run to the title. Siakam averaged 19.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while starting all 24 of the team's playoff games.
