Pascal Sikiam has become a vital part of the Raptors offensive and defensive scheme. Unfortunately, after falling hard onto his back in a game Friday night against the Portland Trailblazers, Siakam is going on the injury report as day-to-day.

Per Shams:

For the Toronto Raptors this season, Pascal Sikiam has been the “glue guy” keeping everything together. He's averaging 14.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists on 61.1 percent shooting from the field. His ability to score in transition, and lockdown offensive players 1-4 really brings much-needed versatility to the Raptors roster.

The Raptors have been excellent this season, with a 23-7 record ranking first overall in the NBA's Eastern Conference. This is an uber-athletic and smart squad that is able to beat teams in multiple ways. First-year head coach Nick Nurse has seemingly done everything right so far, as far as lineup construction goes.

The versatility of this Raptors squad is what makes them one of the few real threats to the Golden State Warriors right now. Kawhi Leonard is just the cherry on top of a team who seriously might be the best team in basketball.

Siakam knows that'll be a challenge though:

“With the team that we have and kinda the way we’ve been playing…, it’s a challenge,” said Siakam on a November episode of Inside the Green Room with Danny Green. “Playing great teams is always a challenge and as a competitor, you always want to go out and try to get a win.”

The Raptors will face off next against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
