The 2020-21 NBA season has been far from ideal for Pascal Siakam and the rest of the Toronto Raptors. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and border issues, the Raptors have been forced to play all their home games in Tampa Bay, Florida. This unprecedented situation the Raps have been in was even made a bit more complicated when Tampa Bay hosted the recent Super Bowl LV between the home team Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Super Bowl is clearly the biggest single-day sporting event in the country and a global pandemic didn't slow it down. This, Siakam said, made it harder for him and his family to settle down in their temporary home city.

“I was in the hotel for the longest time. I think the hotel staff was tired of me.” Siakam said with regards to his recent lodging issues in Tampa Bay (via Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports).

According to the Raptors star, it was hard for him to find a comfortable home in Tampa Bay given the influx of people visiting due to the NFL's biggest game of the season. He and his brother had to stay longer than expected in a hotel while waiting for their lodging issues to be settled.

“Obviously we want to be in Toronto but we understand what's happening & want to keep everybody safe. It's tough but 2020 taught us that we have to be ready for anything, and that's what we've gotta do. That's the type of year it's been.” Siakam added.

All the recent business in Tampa Bay though was rather worth it for the city as their NFL team was able to snag just their second Super Bowl ring after they successfully dethroned the Chiefs. Unfortunately, though, it was at the expense of the Toronto's 2019 Most Improved Player.
