The Toronto Raptors have opted to waive forward Alfonzo McKinnie, according to a report.

According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the 6-foot-8 forward who signed a multiyear deal with the Raptors last season will be waived by the team.

McKinnie became a professional basketball player back in 2015. He played overseas in Luxembourg and Mexico. Come 2016, McKinnie infamously paid 175 dollars so he can try out for a G League Team — the Windy City Bulls. Fortunately, he got in which started his career in the NBA.

Last season with the Raptors, the 25-year-old suited up for 14 games. He logged in 1.5 points per game, shot 53 percent from the field, in 3.8 minutes per contest.

In his last Summer League outing, McKinnie chipped in 14 points on 5-of-14 from the field, 1-of-7 from downtown and 3-of-5 from the free throw line. He also secured six rebounds, got two steals in 33 minutes of play. The Raptors, however, fell 82-68 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After the game (prior to receiving the bad news), McKinnie shared his plans for the rest of the offseason. His journey might have been cut short, but his words reveal that he won't stop working on his game. Wherever he goes, he'll be alright. Per NBA.com:

For me, it's just to keep working. You know, keep working, keep working on the shot and keep working on just the basics. You know, the fundamental stuff to help me create more on my game and that's pretty much it.
