The BIG3 has given former NBA players another opportunity to prove that they can still play at a high level despite their advanced ages. However for the younger ones, it was a chance for them to show off their skills, and possibly earn an invite to be part of an NBA team once again.

That was exactly the case for 32-year-old Rashad McCants, who believes that he still has a lot left in his tank. McCants has been a standout throughout the season, especially on Saturday night, where he led Trilogy to a 51-46 win over the 3-Headed Monsters to capture the league’s first ever championship. He was even named the game’s MVP after he scored 22 points, including the game-winner, which has left some scouts intrigued about him.

The North Carolina product was interviewed by Fox Sports after the game where he discussed a potential return to the NBA. He admitted that he has gone through a tough stretch in his life but he is now ready for a comeback, and cited his understanding of what it takes to win as his main asset.

“All I can think about is where I've come from,” McCants said. “The last five-to-seven years have been the toughest years of my life – going broke, trying to find a way. Ice Cube comes out of nowhere with a league that can help me financially and help me show my skills on a national level again, and I was able to take advantage of it.”

“I know what it takes to win. Right now, the (NBA) is struggling with winners, people who know how to win. I'm open to any opportunity.”

Rashad McCants last played in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings in the 2008-09 campaign, but was not re-signed after the season. He has since played in the D-League and even had stops overseas in the Philippines, Brazil, and France.

Should he once again play at the highest level, he will be the first player from the BIG3 to do so, and could entice more players to join them next season, knowing that they will have enough exposure to get noticed by scouts. For McCants, it could be the opportunity he needs to also silence his doubters and show that he belongs in the NBA.
