It has been an impressive season from Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and his teammate, Earl Thomas, believes that he deserves the 2019 NFL MVP Award.

The latest display from Jackson featured leading the Ravens to a 37-20 victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots. During that performance, Jackson completed 17 of his 23 pass attempts for 163 yards and a passing touchdown. He added 61 rushing yards on 16 carries for two rushing touchdowns to go along with it.

“Lamar played MVP-type football. He’s separating himself,” Thomas said, via Michael David Smith of NBC Sports.

Thomas stated that what Jackson does for the offense overall, but particularly in the running game, makes it easier for the defense. Thomas has complete trust in his quarterback as he believes that the defense just needs to ‘give the ball back' to the offense and ‘let the MVP do his thing.'

“It starts with Lamar and the offense and the running game,” Thomas said. “Us on defense, we just try to give the ball back to them and create more stops and let the MVP do his thing,” Thomas said.

There is still a lot of football left to play before any awards are decided. Jackson will need to continue to perform at a high level and avoid injury. If he can do that, there is no reason to believe that he can't be a contender for the MVP Award.

The next chance for Jackson to bolster his case will be in Week 10 when the Ravens take on the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.
