You know that citizens of a nation have given up on their government when they start to vote for random individuals as their choice of the next leader of their country. Take for example a certain Mr. Louis Ballard from Bardstown, Kentucky, who, instead of choosing either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump at the polls in 2016, decided to write in the name of former Louisville Cardinals star signal-caller Lamar Jackson, per Matt Flegenheimer of The New  York Times.

In 2016, Mr. Ballard could not bring himself to support Mr. Trump or Hillary Clinton, choosing to write in Lamar Jackson, then the star quarterback for the University of Louisville.

A dual-threat quarterback, Johnson threw for a total of 9,043 yards and 69 touchdowns against 27 interceptions in four years under center for the Cardinals. In addition, he rushed for 4,132 yards and collected 50 touchdowns on the ground on 655 carries. There’s no doubt that Lamar Jackson can run, but not for any public office post.

Jackson, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2016, declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after his senior season in Louisville, and was selected by the Baltimore Ravens as the 32nd overall pick last April.

Even if Jackson wanted to run for president in 2016, he would not be have been eligible as the minimum age to be a presidential candidate is 35 years old. But the Ravens rookie still got a kick out of knowing someone actually voted for him.

Maybe someday, Mr. Ballard can convince Jackson to launch a presidential campaign, but for now, the Ravens rookie's focus is on preparing for his first year in the pros.
