As the Baltimore Ravens begin preparing for their first training camp with Lamar Jackson as the starting quarterback, they’ll be hoping that another key acquisition in the offseason will be ready sooner rather than later.

According to reports from The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens third-round pick, Miles Boykin – who has been sidelined with a hamstring strain – is closer to returning to the field.

Boykin has been held out of OTAs ever since they began, but did participate in the Ravens rookie minicamp in early May.

At the moment, it seems as if the Ravens plan is to be as cautious as possible, especially when it comes to the health of the young rookies.

While they did use two early round draft picks on their wide receivers, the concern at the moment seems to be getting both Boykin and first-round pick Marquise Brown – who is recovering from Lisfranc surgery – to being as healthy as possible for training camp later in the year.

During his time at Notre Dame, Boykin flashed the type of playmaking ability that warranted a third-round pick, as he tallied 1,206 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns during his college career, all while averaging 15.7 yards per reception.

Joining a team like the Ravens, who are looking to rebuild their offense with their young quarterback in mind, will need as many new weapons for Jackson as possible, and the addition of Boykin, Brown, and their existing wide receivers corp will undoubtedly make them a tougher team, especially if their players can remain healthy.
