If Wander Franco doesn't have next, that just means he has right now. The Tampa Bay Rays shortstop is nothing short of a superstar in the making.

Franco is following up his impressive rookie season with an amazing start to the 2022 campaign. With a slash line of .393/.397/.714 and an MLB-leading 22 hits and seven doubles (the latter of which he is tied with four other players), the 21-year-old is already making a claim for one of the best players not just at his position but in all of baseball.

Per MLB.com's Adam Berry, one of the best shortstops in the majors thinks extremely highly of Franco. Xander Bogaerts, an All-Star for the Boston Red Sox, picked two all-time greats to describe the Rays star's game.

“Ozzie Smith with the glove, Barry Bonds with the bat,” Bogaerts proclaimed. “I don’t know. He’s unbelievable. … He’s ridiculous.”

Comparing anyone's hitting ability to Bonds is crazy. To add in the defense from Smith, one of the best defenders the game has ever seen, shows a tremendous belief in Franco. He showed off his two-way skills against Bogaerts and the Sox with his first multi-home run game and an insane defensive play.

Tampa Bay locked Franco into a massive $223 million deal after just 70 games as a rookie. His skills are simply generational. For as long as he plays for the Rays, he will be the face of the franchise.

The Rays are off to a measly 7-7 start to the season but should still be one of the best teams as the season goes on. Franco will have a huge part in that.
