Even as Paris Saint-Germain looks to finish off Bayern Munich in the second leg of their quarterfinal matchup in the UEFA Champions League, speculation remains about the future of their star forward Kylian Mbappe. While there is no certainty that Mbappe will leave PSG, La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly grown confident of their chances of signing the 22-year-old.

In a report by Goal.com, Real Madrid reportedly like their chances of acquiring Mbappe this summer as they have set their eyes on the World Cup-winning forward as a potential transfer target.

However, the report also claims that there is still a chance that he can still return to PSG, where he has played since first joining the team in 2017. Kylian Mbappe remains in discussions with the Ligue 1 champions regarding a new contract, as his current deal is set to expire in 2022.

Speculation about where the former Monaco player will sign next will likely continue, as he is reportedly looking to finish the season before deciding if he wants to return to Paris or make a transfer to Los Blancos or another European heavyweight. However, acquiring Kylian Mbappe would not be easy for Real Madrid, as both clubs need to come to an agreement regarding a transfer fee. He's currently valued at well over 100 million euros.

In the meantime, Mbappe, fellow PSG forward Neymar, and the rest of their teammates look to advance to the Champions League semifinals with a win over Bayern Munich. PSG won the first leg of their matchup last week, 3-2, and a win would give them a measure of revenge after losing to the Bundesliga champions, 1-0, in last year’s Champions League Final.
