Eden Hazard's time at Real Madrid has been disastrous, to say the least. Joining the club with lofty expectations after a historic reign at Chelsea, Hazard has failed to adapt to life in La Liga, falling out favor in the first team and scarcely managing to get game action. Despite his struggles across his first two seasons in Spain, Hazard seems set on remaining at Real Madrid, boldly declaring that 2022-23 would be “his year” amid his woes the past couple of seasons. Via Fabrizio Romano, Hazard confirmed his intentions to remain at Real Madrid.

“I'm sure that next year will be mine. I have no doubts,” Hazard declared after Real Madrid's triumph in the Champions League Final against Liverpool. Hazard played a total of 85 minutes across 3 matches in Real Madrid's run to their 14th Champions League trophy. He didn't register a single goal contribution.

In La Liga, things weren't much easier for the former Chelsea superstar. Appearing in 18 games, which is somehow the most throughout his tenure with Real Madrid, Hazard registered 7 starts and logged 717 minutes of action across Los Blancos' 38 league games. He scored 0 goals and managed just 1 assist, in what was his worst statistical season to date.

While many were expecting the 31-year-old to try to move away from the club in order to revive his stalled career, it seems he's content collecting his paychecks at Real Madrid and hoping for a miracle turnaround in production, though it's clear he's lost his place in Carlo Ancelotti's plans.

We could be looking at another Gareth Bale situation at Real Madrid, though one that will likely be less problematic and involve fewer trips to the golf course.
