Four years ago, Washington Redskins star running back Adrian Peterson was at the center of attention around the league after he was suspended indefinitely for his use of a “switch” to punish his son that left him physically marked up.

Legal action was taken against Peterson, and he eventually received probation for his actions. He also missed all but one game for the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, either on the NFL's Exempt/Commissioner's Permission list or suspended.

It appears Peterson may have put himself in a precarious position again, as he admitted he recently used a belt to discipline his son, according to Master Tesfatsion of Bleacher Report.

Four years removed from the trial, he still uses physical forms of punishment to discipline his children—”I had to discipline my son and spank him the other day with a belt,” Peterson says—though he employs other techniques as well. He will take away their electronics, place them in different timeouts around the house, have them do wall squats. “There's different ways I discipline my kids,” he says. “I didn't let that change me.”

Peterson is no longer on probation at this point in time, but these comments could lead to Peterson receiving additional punishment levied down by the NFL. During the time of his case back in 2014, commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement that said he didn't believe Peterson had any remorse from the incident.

It is on the NFL's shoulders to choose whether to take any more action on Peterson for his most recent actions of physically disciplining his kids. This alone could spark a punishment from the league given Goodell's previous stance on the entire matter.

If anything, this is certainly something to monitor moving forward over the next several days as the league will come to a decision on whether to act.
