The Washington Redskins have started a new era of football after the hiring of former Carolina Panthers' head coach Ron Rivera to fill their same position. After firing Jay Gruden in the middle of the 2019 season, the Redskins brought in an extremely coveted head coaching candidate.

Derrius Guice seems to be extremely excited about the move to hire Rivera. After a couple of years of dealing with an incompetent coaching staff, no one can blame him.

Following the news of the hire, Guice took to his personal Twitter account to react to the move.

The first two years of Guice's career have been filled with injury issues. He has had trouble getting healthy and staying healthy. Washington will need him to figure things out moving forward if they want to develop into their top potential.

During the 2019 season in the five games he was able to play, Guice ended up carrying the football 42 times for 245 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Guice showed real superstar potential in a December 1st matchup against Rivera and the Panthers. He racked up 129 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Those numbers show why Rivera was excited to work with the Redskins and the potential that Guice brings to the field.

All of that being said, Rivera will be going from a backfield revolving around Christian McCaffrey in Carolina to one that has both Guice and Adrian Peterson in Washington. Guice will be in line for a much bigger role in 2020, assuming he is able to stay healthy.
