Redskins RB Derrius Guice will not play Week 15 due to knee injury

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice will not play during his team’s Week 15 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles due to a knee injury, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

Guice sustained the knee injury during the second quarter of his team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. His status for the remainder of the season is not yet known.

He carried the ball five times for 42 yards before exiting.

This is just the latest knee issue Guice has experienced since entering the NFL in 2018.

The 22-year-old suffered a torn ACL during the preseason of his rookie year, and after developing an infection after surgery, he had to undergo three additional procedures.

Guice finally made his pro debut in Week 1 of this year, but he tore his meniscus and had to undergo another surgery.

The injury knocked Guice out until Week 11, and since he has returned, he has shown flashes of what made him a second-round pick a year ago. In five games this season overall, he has rushed for 245 yards and a couple of touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per carry.

Most of his production came in Week 13, when he gashed the Carolina Panthers for 129 yards and a pair of scores.

However, Guice has had a ton of difficulty staying on the field since being drafted, and what makes things even scarier is that it is always knee problems that keeps him sidelined.

Not that the Redskins will need Guice for the rest of this season, as they are just 3-10, but he is obviously supposed to be a big part of their future.
