Ron Rivera has added some of his former coaches to his staff since accepting the head coaching job for the Washington Redskins and he could add one of his former players as well. Depending on what he chooses to do, Greg Olsen could consider playing for Rivera in Washington.

Earlier in the week leading up to the Super Bowl, Olsen and the Carolina Panthers agreed to part ways. The departure of Olsen was due to a new regime being assembled in Carolina under Matt Rhule.

Back in 2011, Olsen was traded to the Panthers after spending his first four seasons with the Chicago Bears. That same season, Carolina chose to name Rivera as their next head coach.

In Olsen's nine years with Rivera, the tight end accumulated 524 receptions for 6,463 yards and 39 touchdowns. Even with three different quarterbacks throwing to him in 2019, Olsen still recorded 52 receptions, 597 yards, and two touchdowns.

Despite still proving he can play at a high level, Olsen is undecided about his future in the NFL. When the Panthers had their bye week in Week 7, Olsen spent it in the booth as a commentator for Fox Sports. After getting positive reviews for his play-by-play ability, Olsen could choose to retire and begin a broadcasting career.

While broadcasting is in his future, Olsen has expressed interest in possibly returning for his 14th season. For veteran players, it can be a tough transition to switch teams. However, maybe joining a coach he has experience with, even if it's with the Redskins, can make his decision easier this offseason.
