Anyone who has watched the dumpster fire that is Washington Redskins football has to be clamoring for a change. The ugliness came to a head on Monday Night Football, when the Chicago Bears dismantled the Redskins. Starting quarterback Case Keenum was responsible for five turnovers (three interceptions and two fumbles).

As Keenum plays bad football, rookie first-round quarterback Dwayne Haskins is sitting on the bench, waiting for his shot. When asked about Haskins, coach Jay Gruden didn't give much of a definitive answer.

“Dwayne played one year at Ohio State. I think from a mental standpoint, No. 1, I think it’s good for him to sit back and learn how to prepare, learn how to get ready for a game and a game plan, see all these route concepts and the different things we are doing here. He’s not far away, I wouldn’t say. If I had to put him in the game, I’m sure he could play pretty well.” Gruden said via the NFL according to Pro Football Talk.

Gruden's decision is probably the right one. Keenum isn't typically as bad as he was against Chicago, and the rest of the Washington roster is poor, especially on the offensive side. Rookie receiver Terry McLaurin is the only capable pass-catcher on roster, and running back Adrian Peterson looks mediocre.

Putting in Haskins would be throwing him into a bad situation where he's unlikely to succeed. But if Keenum does continue to play this way, we'll see the exciting rookie sooner rather than later.
