The Washington Redskins are in urgent need of depth at the quarterback position after the Football Gods have taken away both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy, thus leaving just Mark Sanchez as the only option under center for the beleaguered NFC East team. Clearly wanting to address the situation, the Redskins are reportedly set to work out a pair of signal-callers in Landry Jones and Ryan Mallet, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports.

Landry Jones is best known for his years of service as the backup to Ben Roethlisberger in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ system. Landry, who was taken by Pittsburgh in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, played five seasons in Steelers threads before he was waived by the franchise just before the current season kicked in. He was later signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars late in October, but was also waived in November.

Jones has career numbers of 1,310 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions to go with a 3-2-0 quarterback record.

As for Ryan Mallet, he last suited up for the Baltimore Ravens. He also had stints with the New England Patriots, and Houston Texans. In 21 career appearances in the NFL, Mallet, a product of the Arkansas Razorbacks program, has compiled a record of 3-5-0 to go with 1,835 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

The Redskins will look to bounce back from a 28-13 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13, as they host the New York Giants at home this coming weekend.
