It is no secret that wide receiver Terrelle Pryor's lone season with the Washington Redskins did not go quite as planned. It seems he has now given a more clear indication of why.

Pryor injured his right ankle early on in the year and was never able to etch out a role for himself in Washington's offense. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, he was never able to fully focus on his game due to the injury:

“I couldn't focus on my game because I was worried about my foot,” he said at the conclusion of last week's minicamp. “It took control of my mind. Right now, I'm healthy” — well, not really — “and ready to get back to form and have a dominant year.”

Pryor tore a ligament in his right ankle in Week 1 of the 2017 campaign. He had attempted to play through the pain but was never truly able to make a legitimate impact. It was not long before he was placed on injured reserve and shut down for the rest of the season. As a result, he finished with just 20 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown.

It is unfortunate to see Pryor was unable to capitalize off his stellar outing in 2016. However, it is clear that the New York Jets are still enamored with his upside. After all, he is still just one season removed from the 1,000-yard campaign he enjoyed with the Cleveland Browns. The Jets were still sure to give him a one-year deal to prove his worth.
