Contract negotiations with the Miami Heat have grown strenuous for the second consecutive summer, and while very few people really think he’ll leave the franchise he’s spent his entire career with, the possibility certainly exists.

As a deal appeared to be in reach between Wade and the Heat, Dwyane decided to up his demands to two years for $50 million. That figure is nearly impossible for Miami to meet, while the Denver Nuggets quickly issued an offer even more lucrative.

So, does this change Wade’s stance with the Bucks?

It’s more likely that Dwyane is simply increasing his leverage with the Heat by taking the meeting. As the threat of Wade leaving becomes more real, Miami will likely budge, at least a little bit, in negotiations.

They could stand pat, believing Wade will be back regardless. Call his bluff, essentially.

But, what if he actually does leave? The disappointment in South Beach would be palpable. Their front office can’t risk that happening.

Wade’s lone connection to Milwaukee came during his college days at Marquette, which is located in the city. But most pundits don’t believe that’ll play a big factor in his decision.
