The New Orleans Pelicans have waived combo guard Archie Goodwin on Sunday, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The move comes only two weeks after his signing stemming from Lance Stephenson‘s release after a groin injury that required immediate surgery. The Pelicans were forced to make the move with an already thin roster and the urging need to get healthy bodies on the court.

Goodwin played only on three of the eight games in which he was available to play, playing 10, 15, and four minutes respectively.

Head coach Alvin Gentry had stated he planned to give his new signing minutes right away, but the quick recovery of shooting guard E'Twaun Moore kept him from fulfilling his promise.

With the impending return of guard/forward hybrid Tyreke Evans, Goodwin's minutes would be merely on garbage time.

New Orleans is slowly getting back to full health after the return of Jrue Holiday who seems to not have skipped a beat during his time away from the team.

The team has now won two straight games since Holiday's return to the lineup, after starting the season with a nightmarish 2-10 record.

Goodwin averaged five points in 10 minutes of playing time per game during his short two-week stint with the team.
