The Golden State Warriors have been without their man at the helm in Steve Kerr for over a month as he deals with recurring pain in his back due to complications from back surgery almost two years ago.

Ahead of the start of the NBA Finals, head coach Kerr told members of the media that he was unsure if he'd be able to coach in the championship, citing some lingering pain in his back. However, according to Ramona Shelburne and Chris Haynes of ESPN, coach Kerr has a chance to return and coach in Game 2.

“He may coach Sunday. He's feeling better,” a source close to Kerr told ESPN's Marc Spears.

Kerr missed Game 3 of the Warriors' first round series against the Portland Trail Blazers, and revealed that he would be unable to coach in the postseason until his back was feeling better. Kerr had a couple good days in a row, but struggled with some pain on Wednesday afternoon, per ESPN.

The Warriors and Cavs will play Game 2 of the Finals on Sunday night at 8PM EST.
