It seems the threat of mutated organisms from Umbrella Corp's experiments aren't the only problems that Resident Evil fans have to worry. According to a report from Eurogamer, gameplay spoilers surrounding Resident Evil Village are swarming the internet. Most of them are centered on Alcina Dimitrescu, the tall witch-like lady who you normally see in the game's trailers. There are details revealing the role of Chris Redfield in the game.

Capcom's immediately counteracted these spoilers through a plethora of copyright claims. There seems to be a connection with these leakages from the ransomware attacks that were directed to the company last November. These attacks were able to reveal Capcom's game release schedules until 2024.

The company mentioned that over 350,000 files were hacked by these attackers, which includes the personal details of employees. It didn't end there as the attacks grew worse. Capcom noted that the amount of files increased to 390,000 with over 16,000 employees affected.

Included in the statistics are the files from Resident Evil Village. Some of the compromised documents may be outdated given that long development time, however these could tarnish the game's reputation.

Though these attacks have jeopardized Capcom's operations, the company refuses to bend to their demands. The identity and the intentions of these hackers remain a mystery. Resident Evil Village isn't the only game that was affected as IGN noted that Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us 2 had the same issues prior to their release.
