Respawn Entertainment happily announced the latest accolade of its massively successful futuristic battle royale. Apex Legends officially reached over 100 million players this week. Naturally, its creators, Respawn saw fit to create a fun celebration video but there's more to the short clip than meets the eye. Players currently fight for Apex Championships as Season 8 winds down but many eyes are already on the future. The short video flashed brief glimpses of stuff we can all expect from the game's ninth competitive season.

APEX LEGENDS IS 100 MILLION STRONG

The key takeaway from the celebration video includes a stunning new location and a sneak peek at the next new legend. The alleged next legend flew into the sky under the cover of the light source. The video could be hinting at the abilities of the upcoming new legend. Currently, only Octane and Horizon have the ability to launch themselves into the skies. Hopefully, the new character in the video didn't simply zoom into the sky off of Octane's jump pad.

Respawn also treated its players to a look at a beautiful new map. There's no telling if it's a completely new map or if it's a newly renovated area of Kings Canyon. The first-ever map of Apex Legends went through a lot of structural changes across the competitive seasons. It's not entirely unlikely for Respawn to rework part of the Kings Canyon map. Unfortunately, we won't know until Respawn Entertainment officially announces what's in store for Apex Legends. One certain thing remains the massive growth of the Apex player base across its successful run.

Recently, Respawn promised the addition of Titanfall elements in the next season of Apex. Players don't have specific things to wait for but everyone's excited for Season 9. Apex Legends is set to kick off its next competitive season sometime in May 2021.
