Riders Republic, an upcoming new IP under the Ubisoft Originals banner, will likely be a live-service, community-focused game. This is according to the June 20 investors call by Ubisoft, where the company revealed their strategy for the game. Their press release calls Riders Republic “New IP creation with a focus on long term player engagement.” Given the company's new direction and attitude towards live service games, this might mean that Riders Republic will be one.

Whether or not this will do well for the title, we'll find out when it comes out. We do hope that Ubisoft's focus on live service games will eventually score the perfect formula of engagement and profitability. As for being a community-focused game, the game's development team draws inspiration from their previous extreme sports title, Steep. Steep arrived as a new free game for the PlayStation Plus membership in 2019. It attracted more than 10 million new players. This led to the team deciding that Riders Republic will be a social game that emphasizes “excitement and camaraderie of online community.”

Riders Republic is an extreme sports game made to be accessible to a wide audience. It aims to replicate the awe and thrill of extreme biking, skiing, and wingsuit flying. Ubisoft first announced Riders Republic during the September 10, 2020, Ubisoft Forward event. It was originally set to release on February 25, 2021. But then, plans changed and Ubisoft pushed back its release date to September 2, 2021. Finally, one final push has put its release date on October 28, 2021. It's set to release on Windows, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
