The Carmelo Anthony saga played out like a soap opera in the days and weeks before the was traded to Oklahoma City.

So far, Anthony is slowly finding his way with the Thunder. But according to reports, Anthony may have wanted to find his way with another.

Before Anthony was ultimately traded in the summer, he had several conversations about possibly ending up with some other star players, per Ian Begley of ESPN.

Anthony, along with most of the rest of the NBA, said in September that he strongly believed he'd be traded to Houston in early July. He'd been talking to friends about teaming up with Chris Paul and, eventually, LeBron James in Houston and how the Rockets could match up with the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

Paul, James and Dwyane Wade were famously photographed on a banana boat together in the offseason last summer, and Anthony has been rumored to be good friends with all three of those players. Which means Anthony was apparently looking for a way to banana boat his way to a championship.

Obviously, things did not turn out that way, and only James and Wade are currently on the same team. But with the way players are now taking more power in where they want to play, the scenario Anthony played out in his head might be closer to happening than we think.
