With the New York Jets currently sitting at an 0-10 record, it's hard to deny that Adam Gase getting the axe is becoming more and more inevitable as the losses continue to pile up. As it turns out, however, the Jets coach has not given up just yet, and has now pinned his hopes on star quarterback Sam Darnold turning things around for New York.

With Darnold set to return for the Jets in their upcoming matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Gase is looking to his 23-year-old QB to give him a little help here. It is also worth noting that Sunday's contest against the Dolphins is the first time Gase will be playing all three of his top wide receivers in  Jamison Crowder, Denzel Mims and Breshad Perriman, who themselves have previously been dealing with respective injuries.

Manish Metha of the Daily News believes that a win for a full-strength Jets side on Sunday could help Gase's cause:

So, Gase could present a case to ownership and general manager Joe Douglas, who will have a significant say in Gase’s future even though the coach doesn’t technically report to him, that his offense never had a chance to get off the ground until now.

A strong showing down the stretch from the Jets offense, which has scored half of their 14 offensive touchdowns in the past two games, could be a life raft for the head coach.

It's going to take more than just one win for Gase to save his job for next season, but it is certainly a step towards the right direction. If the Jets somehow manage to win majority of their final six games, then it could be a whole different story for Gase in the offseason.
