The contract extension saga between Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich could soon come to an end.

As noted by RMC Sport’s Loic Tanzi, Lewandowski is still “determined” to leave Bayern Munich.

The Polish international is currently at a standstill with Bayern Munich club officials over his future at the side, as he has a mere one more season remaining on his contract.

Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski’s agent, reportedly met with several Bayern Munich club officials on Thursday to further discuss the forward’s future. The reigning European Golden Boot winner was not present at the meeting, and overall, the club once again made clear that it does not aspire to sell him over the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona has remained on standby, keeping a close watch on the situation between Lewandowski and Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn. Barca director of football Mateu Alemany has reportedly met with Zahavi to touch on the possibility of signing Lewandowski. Zahavi noted during the meeting that he still has to convince the Bundesliga powerhouse to allow the veteran forward to leave in the summer window.

More so, Lewandowski is reportedly asking for a three-year contract in order to make a move away from the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Lewandowski has maintained his keen goal-scoring form in Bundesliga this season, scoring a league-high 33 goals through 31 appearances so far. Bayern has three matches left on its league schedule, which could end up being the forward’s final ones with the club.
